How it works

Before the visit

Once you book, I’ll send you a short questionnaire so I can understand your home, the problem and what you’re hoping to achieve.

You’ll be asked to send:

  • Photographs or short videos of the space

  • Any existing floor plans or architectural drawings

  • Your key questions and concerns

  • Relevant inspiration images

  • A brief outline of your renovation plans, if applicable

This means we can use our time in your home to make decisions—not spend the first half-hour establishing what the problem is.

During the consultation

I’ll spend 90 minutes with you in your home, examining how the space currently works and how it could work better.

We’ll walk through the problem, test ideas and discuss the most effective options. I’ll give you clear, honest advice about what is worth changing, what may be unnecessary and where your money and attention will have the greatest impact.

You’re welcome to take notes and photographs during our session.

After the consultation

Within 48 hours, you’ll receive a concise, personalised Home Layout Action Plan recording:

  • The principal layout issues we identified

  • My recommended direction

  • Your priority actions

  • Relevant furniture or spatial guidance

  • Annotated photographs or simple explanatory sketches, where useful

  • Suggested next steps

You’ll have a practical plan you can begin using immediately, whether you are rearranging the room yourself, briefing an architect or preparing for the next stage of your renovation.

What isn’t included?

The Home Layout SOS is an expert diagnostic and advisory consultation. It does not include:

  • A measured survey

  • Scaled CAD drawings

  • Multiple drawn layout options

  • Technical or structural advice

  • Planning advice

  • Detailed lighting or electrical plans

  • Mood boards

  • Product sourcing or shopping lists

  • Contractor-ready specifications

  • Revisions to architectural drawings

If your project would benefit from drawings, a developed design scheme or further support, these can be commissioned separately after the consultation.

I’m Tash South, an interior designer and renovation consultant with nearly two decades of experience creating homes that work beautifully for the people living in them.

I have renovated fourteen homes, built a house from the ground up and helped homeowners navigate everything from a single awkward room to major renovation and extension projects.

I’m the founder of South Place Studio and RenoVersity, and host of the How To Renovate podcast. My approach combines interior design, practical renovation knowledge and a deep understanding of how our homes shape the way we live.

I don’t believe every layout problem needs an expensive building solution. Sometimes a small, intelligent change can completely alter the way a home feels.

Frequently asked questions

Can we discuss more than one room?

The consultation is centred on one defined layout problem. This might involve one room, a connected open-plan space or the principal floor of a renovation.

If you would like advice across several unrelated rooms, the One-Day In-Home Consultation will be more suitable.

Can you review my architect’s plans?

Yes. Please send the plans in advance and explain the decisions you are concerned about. I can assess the internal layout from an interior, practical and lifestyle perspective.

The Home Layout SOS does not replace architectural, planning, structural-engineering or building-regulations advice.

Will I receive a floor plan?

A scaled floor plan is not included in the £295 consultation. Your follow-up may contain annotated photographs or simple explanatory sketches where helpful.

If you would like a measured or scaled layout drawing, I can quote for this separately after the visit.

Do I need to prepare anything?

You’ll receive a short questionnaire after booking. Please return it with your photographs, floor plans and key questions before the consultation so that we can make the best possible use of our time together.

What if I live outside the listed areas?

Please get in touch before booking. I may be able to travel to nearby North London postcodes, subject to availability and an additional travel charge.
